So I noticed last night that Series 21 of Top Gear finally landed on Netflix. I’ve been busy doing real-life things and not binge watching Netflix so I feel I should be excused from not noticing it before. Regardless, there’s an issue I’m having with the new episodes.

The latest season seems to have had some weird editing done to it. The first episode in the season didn’t include the Star in the Reasonably Priced Car segment and the second episode was missing the news. Wikipedia tells me that these segments existed on this particular episodes when they originally aired. Why were they cut from the Netflix release?

Most of the new TG episodes on Netflix have the news cut from them. I don’t know why. I’m guessing it’s to do with the BBC being picky.

Netflix episodes (in the U.S.) are the BBC America versions, which are cut to roughly 42 minutes to fill an hour slot with commercials. At least one segment is removed entirely, and others are trimmed.

It’s unfortunate because the news is typically one of my favorite segments. I can listen to those three ramble on about practically anything.

Netflix is dumb. Perhaps Hulu has the uncut ones? I know some of the episodes of Top Gear USA have some stray f-bombs that play through.

Hulu and Amazon are uncut.
